Done and Dusted

Oh My God, I am done, finished, all over red rover. Drum roll please, with a grand total of 50,357 I'm done. I’m kind of surprised that I did finish, cause really I always had some doubt whether I could. I’m glad that I’ve proved to myself that it is possible.
I’m going to put my story away for the next month. I’ll reread it in August and see if any of it is any good. I think some bits are but I need some space from it so I don’t kid myself.
During July I’m going to spend the next two weeks catching up on everyone and everything I’ve been neglecting, this includes all those books that I’ve put to one side.
I’m also doing a correspondence course with Lifestyle Learning Direct on Romantic Fiction Writing. I’ll be able to finish my third assignment. I haven’t looked at this lately. So I’ll get back into it

I've been away from the internet lately. I seem to get more done that way (go figure) I've been chugging away on my novel and it looks like I'll be finished on time, even early, knock on wood. I've learnt alot this month. I think the most important thing would have to be WORD SPRINTS. It's amazing just how many words you can write in 15 - 30 minutes. It also helps when you know other people are doing the same thing at the same time. I don't always join in on the posts, but they do keep me chugging away. Thanks ladies, wouldn't have gotten so far alone.

I'm on a roll

My novel has been following me to work each day, I find myself zoning out of the real world and into my own.
I'm happy, happy, happy. The last couple of nights I've been able to meet my word count in 1hr 30 mins. I feel so satisfied with my work to date. It looks like I'm going to be able to finish in June. Fingers crossed.
It's given me time to start reading the newest book I've bought. It's called Damien by Jacquelyn Frank. I first discovered her books when I was over in The Hawaiian Islands just before Christmas. I love her books.

End of Week One

Week one has come and gone. With a grand total of 13,500 words written the first week I had my ups and downs. Day one with 1,800 words written my feeling were on a high but they dropped down a bit on day two when the day didn’t go as planned. I was only able to key 654. The rest of the week was spent trying to catch up and Sunday I did.
What a feeling. I, yes, little old me, had keyed 13,500 words of my first novel. Some of the scenes I loved writing and the time passed quickly as my characters revealed themselves. But sometimes, the words were forced out of me and the time seemed to drag on and on.
The second week has started and I’ve written my word count for the day bringing the total up to 15,082. That’s 30% of the 50ks in 30 day challenge completed. Who through I had it in me.

The challenge has began

The challenge has began. I’ve keyed a total of 1800 words today and I’m feeling great. This is the largest amount of words I’ve keyed in one day for years. I haven’t written anything in at least 10 years, but I’m always dreaming and reading up on writing techniques. I finally decided to stop the dreaming and see if I’ve got it in me to write a novel. I’m trying for a sexy mills & boon. That was the idea when I first found out about 50ks in 30 days. But I no longer care if my book is crap as long as I finish and prove to myself it is possible. I’ve given myself permission to be as bad at the writing as I can get. (Hopefully not to bad). I figure I’ll have a closer look at the editing stage, once I have something to edit.

I tried writing a novel before, if memory serves I got to chapter two before I started editing. Didn’t write any more of the story, got to involved in the editing process and after a while loss interest in the story altogether.

I’ve worked up a plot and a brief sentence or two of what I expect to write in each chapter.

Here is a picture of my heroine (Melissa) and my hero (Justin). I think they make a sexy looking couple. Don't you?
